Recommendations for Use

Vitamin E and Selenium complement each other and together they play a vital role in supporting healthy muscle and nerve function, as well as supporting the immune system.

The antioxidant role of these two key micronutrients is especially important in hard working competition horses and ponies to help protect muscle and other body cells from oxidative damage. Antioxidants mop up harmful free radicals. Free radicals are naturally produced by the body during normal exercise, but excessive free radicals produced during intense exercise, illness and stress can cause oxidative stress and damage to cells leading to a reduction in performance and a delay in recovery.

It must be remembered that excessive selenium intake can rapidly become toxic, and the addition of a selenium and Vitamin E supplement should be carefully considered, in conjunction with other selenium sources in the diet. The selenium levels in Equine America Vitamin E and Selenium are carefully formulated to be safely fed with most typical competition horse diets.

All ingredients are selected to ensure they are fully compliant with the Rules of Racing and the FEI Guidelines for Clean Sport.
