Recommendations for Use

Two independent research studies conducted at the University of Aberystwyth have shown that feeding Horslyx Garlic Balancer can significantly reduce irritation caused by flies and other biting insects while horses are at pasture. The most recent study concluded:

“This level of reduction is indicative that the consumption of Horslyx Garlic Balancer produces a beneficial effect for the horse and that this reduction in insect burden will allow the horse to be less irritable and more manageable.”

Further details on the study can be found [here].

A third independent study at Aberystwyth also demonstrated that Garlic Balancer helped reduce the frequency with which affected horses attempted to relieve the discomfort caused by sweet itch. This research concluded:

Feeding Horslyx Garlic Balancer helped to alleviate irritation caused by sweet itch, which in turn may reduce stress, making for a happier, more responsive and co-operative horse.

Horse Safety First!

We prioritise your horse’s well-being. While the plastic packaging of our balancers is durable, some curious horses might enjoy kicking or pawing at it.

  • Never leave unattended horses with the plastic tub: If your horse or pony shows any signs of kicking or pawing at the container, do not leave them alone with the product.

Stable and Secure Feeding

  • 5kg Holder: Keeps Horslyx clean and away from stable debris, prevents it being kicked or trodden on. Includes a detachable restrictor grill to prevent overconsumption.

Mini Horslyx Placement

Not recommended for unsupervised use. Always ensure you are present, and the product should be held by you at all times.

Alternative Solutions

If not using our holders, ensure safe containment to prevent plastic ingestion or injury.
